Light gap per side of the shade - on a roller shade the roller/heading is always larger in width than the fabric. Thus, when you order please make sure that the width of the fabric and the resulting light-gap will be acceptable:

Standard (cordless/chain) – 9/16” light gap per side of shade
With Cassette valance – 11/16” light gap per side of shade

Depth considerations:

minimum depth without valance cassette is 2 ¼”, flush depth without valance cassette is 3”
minimum depth with small cassette is 1 ¾”, flush depth with small cassette is = 3 7/8”
minimum depth with large cassette is 2 ¼”, flush depth with =arge cassette is 4 1/8”

How do I Order with scalloped edge: We no longer provide scalloped edges or gimps on or roller shades. All shades are straight bottom cut.

I ordered white fabric blackout roller shades from Payless Decor a few years ago. Are those still available? Or are there only vinyl ones available?: This collection, the Reminiscent collection, is a 3 ply vinyl. If you want more of a fabric look, try our Advantage Splendor Roller Shades: https://www.paylessdecor.com/Roller-Shades/Payless-Decor-Advantage-Splendor-Roller-Shades.asp. These are made of 100% polyester and you can select the blackout feature in Step #3 of the customization.
How does the continuous roller chain works?: The continuous cord loop or chain option functions like a pulley mechanism. The cord stays the same length no matter where the shade is at.
Is the cord plastic or metal?: They actually come standard with spring lift which has no cord. However there is a continuous cord loop option which comes with a plastic beaded cord.
Does a "spring lift" mean that the roller shade is cordless?: Yes, a "spring lift" mechanism means you gave the shade a slight tug to raise or lower the shade.
What is the roller made of? (Cardboard?Wood? Plastic?) I want to use them outdoors and the last pair I bought were cardboard---did not work so well.: This product is not designed for outdoor use as it has a cardboard roller. If you need a roller shade for outdoor use, we only have one product; our Advantage Solar Shades (with the outdoor controls option). This product offers 4 blackout color selections in addition to other colors and has a metal roller that can be used outdoors (when you select the outdoor controls option). Are Payless Decor's Advantage Reminiscent Blackout shades energy star rated for insulation?: The Advantage Reminiscent Blackout shades are more so advertised for room darkening than insulation, although, if there is no sunlight streaming in the room window the temperature would be a little lower. This product is not on the Energy Star rated product list.
What material are these blinds made of?: Our Advantage Blackout Roller Shades are made from a 3-ply vinyl material.

Do the curtains between the windows in the picture actually move/ are able to also cover the windows to have a total blackout appearance of curtains?: In this particular setup they don't move. They had a liner on the back of them.
Would I be able to use these on a screened in porch with the mount above the window so that the cardboard would not get wet?: This is not a product that we recommend for any type of exposure to ourdoor elements-including getting wet. I've never ordered blinds for outside mount windows before so I'm concerned how far the rolling mechanism sticks out from the top of the frame if mounted there. Can you tell me how far that piece measures in diameter?: If you choose to have a spring lift or continuous cord loop then you are looking at about 3" of depth sticking out from the frame. If you get something with a cassette system, you are looking at a depth of about 4.125".
